'we know AI is coming in, helping us with Netflix recommendations and our Spotify playlists, but what about robots and the takeover of the world... cybernetic organisms?' - Aveea
It's the two legends, Marvin Minsky and John McCarthy that birthed the Artificial Intelligence Project in the 1950s. However, more modern computer scientists who are creatives of 'machine learning' (see What is Machine Learning?) such as Francois Chollet, has adapted their original idea from Minsky and McCarthy and stated that "Intelligence is not skill itself, it's not what you can do, it's how well and how efficiently you can learn new things."
Watch Aveea's video (displayed on the left) to get a intricately detailed explanation as they home in on the differences and correlations of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
So what is machine learning? The use and development of computer systems that are able to learn and adapt without following explicit instructions, by using algorithms and statistical models to analyse and draw inferences from patterns in data. Machine learning is the study of computer algorithms that improve automatically through experience. It is seen as a part of artificial intelligence.
'Pepper is a humanoid robot companion designed be sort of a kiosk at businesses like shopping malls, hospitals, and doctors' offices. Pepper is also able to track eye contact and express emotion. We spent a little time with Pepper and got its thoughts on how it helps people, Paris, robot uprisings, and tacos' - Tech Insider
Pepper is SoftBank's adorable, 4ft humanoid, 'optimized for engaging with people through conversation and the touch screen'. Pepper is capable of skills such as recognising faces, eye contact, human emotions, to inform and entertain people in an innovative way. Steve Kovach on Tech Insider had the privilege of interviewing Peppa as they show off their assistance skills and witty humour.

Is robotics part of AI? Is AI part of robotics? What is the difference between the two terms? We answer this fundamental question.
The HAL 9000 wants your job.
OK, it’s not the HAL 9000 (yet) but all over the world, intelligent machines are replacing jobs at an alarming rate.
Robots come in many shapes and sizes. But, perhaps, the most intriguing, endearing, and acceptable are the ones that resemble us, humans.
A new WEF report, The Future of Jobs 2018, says that 75 million jobs will be displaced by artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and automation, but suggests that 133 million new jobs may be created as organisations shift the balance between human workers and machines: a net gain of 58 million.
Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang doesn’t need a crystal ball to see where artificial intelligence will be used in the future. He just looks at his customer list.
From logistics to food prep, robots are custom built to help mankind survive a pandemic
'Whether it's used to find new links between genetic codes or to drive surgery-assisting robots, artificial intelligence is reinventing — and reinvigorating — modern healthcare through machines that can predict, comprehend, learn and act.'

The Real Reason to be Afraid of Artificial Intelligence
Ask the AI experts: Should we be afraid of AI?
“[AI] is going to change the world more than anything in the history of mankind. More than electricity.” - Computer Scientist, D. Kai Fu Lee (2018)
It is undeniable that Artificial intelligence and Robotics is continuing to impact the future from an economic, virtual and social perspective in every industry. Artificial intelligence and Robotics has swiftly become the main product of emerging technologies such as quantifying data, business analytics, IoT (Internet of Things) etc. This will only increase and continue to act as a "technological innovator for the foreseeable future". > available to work 24/7
> able to make unbiased, quantitative decision making- without emotional bias getting in the way
> can work in risky situations
> expansive to repair and/or replace
> costly to maintain running even just a singular machine- let alone multiple e.g. electricity costs
> machines lack a creative thought process and are tied to thinking 'inside the box'
